Nibble’s tool lay across a line Finley had once meant to follow. 🗺️

THE LINE FINLEY LEFT CLOSED 🗺️
Finley laid the travelling copy beside the full chart in the workshop. Nearby, the original route plate remained beneath its cover, exactly where they had left it.
He added the outpost and its broad approach. Then he brought the proposed route beyond the mineral teeth into view.
Vael knew why that line had been crossed out. Sora and Nibble needed to know too.
Finley explained the delayed return and the lost measurements. Sora and Nibble listened while he described the gaps he could not fill.
“And we can’t simply return to the old watching stone,” he added. “Krail knows it.”
Nibble put a tool across the tempting line while Finley worked on the route they did possess.
The outpost could hold supplies and shelter a small survey party. Finley marked its protected approach for the next visit.
Sora examined the drawing.
“Can another carrier read this without you?”
“Ask one.”
They did. The first traveller followed the broad route correctly, then stopped at a cramped mark Finley had considered obvious.
He redrew it larger.
By the end, he was proud of the map. The crossed-out line remained.
