THE CURRENT THAT WENT QUIET 🌊

The Endless Pond woke beneath a silver morning.

Mira darted between the lily roots. “Catch me, TurboTAD!”

“Not near the nursery channel,” Sora called. “The little ones are still sleeping.”

“One slow lap,” TurboTAD said, smiling. “Hero’s promise.”

He stopped before the smile had left his face. The current beneath his flippers had vanished.

“Mira. Swim back to Sora.”

“Why?” Her own smile faded.

“This water should be moving.”

Sora touched the channel with one flipper. “It’s weakening.”

Beyond the nursery reeds, roots and glowing moss almost hid an ancient stone gate. TurboTAD had passed it many times. He had never seen the faint violet line now pulsing across its surface.

“Was that always there?” Mira asked.

“No.”

Circles, stars and branching pathways awakened across the stone: symbols from the stories of the First Builders.

Sora looked towards the nursery. “Without this channel, the shallow pools will begin to close.”

“The Little TADs could be stranded.” Mira’s voice had dropped to a whisper.

TurboTAD moved in front of them, his silver booster silent against his back.

“Then we restore it.”

He pressed a flipper against the gate. A weak pulse answered deep inside, followed by a single hollow beat from beyond the sealed stone.

TurboTAD kept his flipper there.

The gate was still alive. But something on the other side had stopped the current.
