Finley and Vael reached the landing the following morning, after a day’s swimming and a night’s rest on the checked route.
Brink met them at the bend. He took the heavier end of their bundle and led them towards the open doorway.
Inside, Zale was helping Marno clear a strand of weed from the small channel. It had caught there since the opening. Left to collect more, it could have spoiled the gentle balance beside the slab.
Marno inspected the rail seats before they brought the load through.
“Clear.”
The fitting in the wall was empty. TurboTAD and the key were back at the nursery.
Vael carried their bundle beneath the fixed frame rails and put it in the space cleared for arrivals. Finley replaced the first local drawing with the clearer copy, keeping the maintenance notes beside it.
“Glint?” Zale asked.
“Home. Sore. Keeping score.”
Zale looked deeply troubled by the last part.
They unpacked breakfast.
Brink went back for the last small bundle. There was a place to put it, food enough for the arriving swimmers, and work they understood waiting after the meal.
Finley sat beside Vael.
“Pass me a bowl.”
