Under Finley’s weed pad, a second line emerged from the stain. 🗺️

THE LINE UNDER THE STAIN 🌊

It joined the nursery supply to an outgoing branch. Between them lay a small balancing passage, its entrance beneath the shelf where the children raced shadows.

Finley followed the older routes beyond it. “These branches were marked closed.”

“And we’ve seen others broken,” TurboTAD said. “The river had nowhere else to go.”

Marno put a flipper beside the nursery line. “So it reached the weak part here. Then our own relief passage stopped carrying the extra water.”

“That’s the backwards bit,” Mira said.

“Yes.” Marno’s voice softened. “This way lets it pass around the nursery. The broken conduit stays braced.”

Vael traced the outlet. It led away from the draining shaft, into the returning flow they already knew.

“Why were the older branches closed?” Sora asked.

Finley searched the plate. “It doesn’t say.”

The small passage’s position was clear, though, and so was the order of its stone catches. Marno read them twice. For the first time, he could point to a reachable repair.

Sora turned towards the children.

“Everyone moves before you lift anything.”

TurboTAD started to offer help, but Mira was already gathering her companions.

“The shaded hollow,” she told him. “We practised.”

Pondling nosed the abandoned leaf out of her way.
