Zale found the answer first—and immediately wanted more. 🫧

THE POND HAD TO KNOW 🌊
Zale’s weed loop marked the gap behind them as he hurried down the pale bed. At the far end, the bed ran straight beneath silt. Every scour swept around a chalk-white shoulder, as though the whole ancient river had been caught by the tail and dragged aside.
The old current had been forced from its route.
Zale turned after it.
“Wait,” TurboTAD said.
Zale stopped half-facing the bend. “Now? We finally know where it went.”
“We know which way.”
“Then we follow it.”
Glint moved beside Zale. “I agree. Clear trail. Enough light.”
TurboTAD’s tail had already angled toward the white stone. He forced it still. Beyond it waited the answer he had chased since the nursery current failed. Leaving felt like opening his flippers and letting it go.
Zale’s voice softened. “You want to go.”
“I do.” TurboTAD swallowed. “More than I want to go back.”
“Then why?”
“Because the Pond needs what we know now. We take it back, bring others, and return properly.”
Glint stayed put. “My vote is still left.”
“I heard you. I’m choosing to go back. And I need both of you with me.”
Zale’s tail struck once, lifting silt. He watched it settle, then crossed back to TurboTAD’s side until their flippers brushed.
“We are coming back.”
“We are,” TurboTAD said.
Glint finally turned. “Good. I dislike losing arguments to empty basins.”
They passed the weed loop and slipped through the roots into the grass bowl.
This time, none of them swam ahead.
