THE DOOR RISES 🌤️

Pip sat with Glint away from the doorway. Glint watched Zale lay out the pegs where his tail could not scatter them.

The small channel was clear. At Finley and Vael’s signal, TurboTAD seated the key. Once the catch released, Marno and Nibble raised the slab on their lifting pieces.

Through the opening came a strip of pale weed, then the darker stone of the supply route. Vael kept the outside approach empty.

The shortened rail seated squarely on its packing. The second fitted high across the opening, clear of the cradle’s path. Zale pressed a peg into its fixing.

Glint had imagined the route from everyone’s descriptions. Now he could see it: ordinary water, broad enough for him to pass without folding his sore side against stone.

His sound flipper tightened around the seed husk.

Pip noticed, but said nothing. Together they watched the narrow band of daylight become a doorway.
