Zale folded the food wrap again. It still looked too thin. 🫧

ONLY THAT STRAP 🫧
Vael squeezed through the high service gap to fetch Pip. Finley tucked the returned travelling copy safely away.
Glint watched Vael disappear. Then he turned to Finley.
“Loosen my harness. Only that strap.”
Finley eased the fastening beneath the sound flipper. The left lay close against Glint’s body, swelling along the edge where Krail had pinned it.
Zale folded their remaining food wrap beneath it.
“Higher,” Glint whispered.
Zale added another fold. Glint’s mouth relaxed a little.
TurboTAD came back from the blocked entrance and settled beside Glint.
“Pip will come from the landing.”
“I heard.”
The lantern had rolled towards the hollow’s edge. Glint pointed with his sound flipper, and TurboTAD caught its strap before it slipped away. He placed the shutter facing the wall. Soft green light spread over the stone.
Zale kept holding the folded wrap.
“Can you let go?” Finley asked him quietly.
Zale looked down, surprised to find both his flippers still there.
“Apparently.”
He released it one side at a time.
