The second turn erased Vael from view. 🌿

THE HOLLOW IN THE SILT 🗺️
Clear green light woke them inside the line. Zale checked the double loop. Finley checked the marked strip. He did not look at TurboTAD when they left the resting pocket.
They rounded the second turn. Vael, the chart and the scarred root disappeared behind folded grass.
Ahead, the upper rib descended into a corridor divided by two clumps of torn weed. Small snails grazed the stems on the left. The right clump held no moving life.
Finley angled left, then caught himself.
“That is where my chart line would go,” he said. “If I still had it.”
Glint lowered towards the fork without entering either branch. A broad groove crossed the fresh silt from left to right. Its raised edge crumbled while they watched.
Near the groove lay a clean rectangular hollow with one chipped corner.
“Hold,” Zale said.
“Recent,” Glint replied. He stayed above the silt.
Finley studied the hollow from where he was. The covered strip made no movement at his side.
“A route plate could have rested there,” he said. “So could another object of the same size.”
The shape pulled at TurboTAD’s hope. He let it pull without following.
“No one touches the groove. Back one length.”
Finley obeyed, though the distance between them had not entirely closed.
The four withdrew beneath the upper rib, beyond Vael’s sight and still beyond the last known-safe line.
Something rectangular had recently left the hollow. Its fresh drag line vanished into the right-hand grass.
